PEI Humane Society seeing an increase in surrenders

The PEI Humane Society says it’s getting harder for Islanders to afford having a pet.
A spokesperson for the society says they’ve recently seen an increase in surrenders, and it’s also taking longer to find new owners for the animals.
She suggests the increased cost of living is behind the trend as the costs of owning an animal, including vet care, food and housing, are simply out of reach for many people.
