Island MLA’s will see two increases in pay over the next 8-months. The Indemnities and Allowances Commission, which determines pay for MLAs has announced a 2-percent raise for MLAs on September 1st. Their current base salary is about $78-thousand. There will then be a second pay raise of 2.5-percent, effective April 1, 2024. The Commission points to inflation as the reason for pay increases.
