The national inflation rate rose to 3.3 per cent in July, after tumbling to 2.8 per cent in June. Statistics Canada says the increase is due to gasoline prices that fell less dramatically from year-ago levels. Grocery prices rose 8.5 per cent, which is more slowly than they did in June. That was mostly due to smaller price increases for fruit and bakery goods. PEI’s inflation rate was 2.1 percent in July.
