The Black Cultural Society of PEI is getting set to celebrate Emancipation Day on Tuesday. Emancipation Day commemorates the abolition of slavery across the British Commonwealth, including in Canada, on August 1st, 1834.
All festivities will take place in ‘ The Bog’ in Rochford Square from 5:30pm to 8:00pm. Everyone is welcome and those attending are asked to bring their country’s flag if they are of African and Caribbean descent.
