A 57-year old woman died after a trailer became detached from a pick-up truck and struck her on Mount Edward Road near Belvedere Ave. The accident occurred at 7.45 on Tuesday morning. The pick-up truck was heading north on Mount Edward when the trailer broke loose and hit the woman who was walking in the same direction.
The woman died from injuries sustained in the mishap. The driver of the truck was not injured.
Charlottetown Police were at the scene along with the Charlottetown Fire Department. Mount Edward Road was closed in that area for several hours along with several adjacent streets following the accident.
Police are requesting anyone with dash cam footage or who may have witnessed the accident to contact them.
