Power was out for a little over 1,000 Maritime Electric customers on Monday afternoon into the early evening after a tractor trailer accidentally took wires on a utility pole on MacAleer Drive in Sherwood.
Power went out just after the noon hour began. It took crews several hours to repair the pole and wires before power was fully restored. The top of the trailer caught the lines. The Charlottetown Fire Department attended the scene as a precaution. There were no injuries. Businesses in the area had to close because of a lack of power.
