RCMP take one person into custody after incident in Hunter River

The RCMP took one person into custody, without incident, as a result of an incident Sunday in Hunter River.  Shortly before 1:00pm, the RCMP advised that officers were on-scene at a building on Route 13, dealing with a possibly armed and barricaded individual. Police asked local residents to remain indoors to stay safe and avoid the area.  Traffic restrictions and detours are also put in place, while apartments and a business in the building were evacuated.  Police were able to make contact with the individual and a trained RCMP negotiator was able to speak with the person, who then came out of the building and surrendered.  Officers took the individual into custody and an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
