Premier Dennis King, Chair of the Council of Atlantic Premiers, attended a meeting in Moncton this week with other Atlantic Premiers and Federal Ministers from the region. They raised concern over Clean Fuel Regulations and the need for the federal government to work with the provinces in the transition to cleaner energy. Premier King says there is still concern over the cost of living plus the need to continue growth in the workforce and housing supply, plus finding new and clean economic opportunities.
The federal transport minister attended and the Premier raised concern about the lack of consistent ferry service between Wood Islands and Caribou and replacement of the Confederation and the Holiday Island which was put out of commission last summer after a fire.
The Premier was pleased to hear Intergovernmental Affairs Minister Dominic LeBlanc will be responding to the idea of establishing a working group to reduce ferry and Confederation Bridge tolls to $20.
