The federal government has announced two new grants to help with climate change initiatives in Charlottetown and Stratford.
Charlottetown MP Sean Casey and the Canadian Federation of Canadian Municipalities have announced $1.8 million in support.
Most of the funding goes to Charlottetown totalling over $1.8 million to upgrade the energy efficiency of City Hall, the fire hall and West Royalty Community Centre the city nearly $90,000 a year in operation costs and reduce energy used by 30 percent.
The grant is worth $242-thousand plus a $1.6 million loan.
The Town of Stratford receives $30-thousand to develop a greenhouse gas reduction plan which will address energy consumption in areas like land use, transportation, buildings, infrastructure and energy supply.
