The Eastern PEI Chamber of Commerce will hold a public tonight regarding unscheduled ferry service interruptions this summer and the need for dependable ferry service for the eastern part of the Island. The meeting will take place at 6.30 this evening in the Media Theatre at the Riverhouse Inn in Montague.
Tourism and business owners in that part of the province have voiced concern over the recent shutdown of the service with the Confederation needing mechanical repairs twice over the last month.
Veterans Affairs Minister and Cardigan MP Lawrence MacAulay says he’s pleased two ferry service has returned this month to Wood Islands and Caribou with the Saaremaa joining the Confederation. He says maintaining two ferry service is vitally important to businesses and people in eastern PEI. He says they will work hard toward a long term solution.
