The head of the Tourism Industry Association of Prince Edward Island says businesses in the eastern end of the province are missing out on valuable tourism business due to the Confederation ferry being out of service.
Corryn Clemence says local businesses missed out on ferry tourists during the Canada Day weekend and it’s the same for people travelling to the Cavendish Beach Music Festival this weekend.
Although people can use the Confederation Bridge to arrive, she says taking the ferry is an experience for most tourists. The Bridge was extremely busy with traffic on Thursday before the concerts began at Cavendish Beach.
Northumberland Ferries says the Confederation was removed from service due to a mechanical problem. The parts to make repairs arrive Saturday.
