The Province of Prince Edward Island has announced some help for property owners who need to rebuild or remove damaged property as a result of post-tropical storm Fiona. Fees charged by the Province for building and development permit fees will be waived for those property owners needing to repair or replace residential structures – either primary or non-primary residences – that existed prior to September 24, 2022. Residents who have already paid building and/or development permit fees on Fiona rebuilds may be eligible for reimbursement with proof of receipt from the province or their municipality. Permit applications must be made by March 31, 2024. Applicants will have two years to complete their builds.
