An update from Northumberland Ferries regarding the status of the MV Confederation.
The service has been suspended since last weekend when a further mechanical issue developed with the vessel. The ferry company says the parts required to repair the vessel are due to arrive on Saturday – and with an expedited repair and extensive testing — the vessel is to be back in service early next week. As a result, ferry service between Wood Islands and Caribou remains suspended through Saturday and Sunday.
The second vessel for the 2023 peak operating season, MV Saaremaa 1, is scheduled to enter service by mid-July. Northumberland Ferries crew left Wednesday to join the vessel in Quebec for the transit. MV Saaremaa 1 is expected to arrive late on Monday, and the remaining crew will be trained and final preparations will be completed as quickly as possible in order to safely enter the vessel into service.
All customers with reservations on sailings up to and including Sunday will automatically receive a refund.
