Service with Northumberland Ferries between Wood Islands and Caribou is suspended again due to a further mechanical issue with the MV Confederation. Northumberland Ferries issued a statement Monday saying efforts to fix the problem were not successful, so service is suspended until repairs are completed, which is expected to be no later than Saturday. The mechanical issue developed Sunday and forced the cancellation of sailings on Sunday and Monday. Northumberland Ferries says the required parts are enroute and repairs will be completed as quickly as possible once the parts are onsite. Northumberland Ferries says it is not accepting bookings for travel before July 8th, which is Saturday. The second vessel that was secured for the peak operating season, MV Saaremaa 1, is scheduled to enter service by mid-July.
