The first place Charlottetown Islanders five game winning streak ended with a 4-3 walk-off loss to the Fisher Cats in Moncton in New Brunswick senior baseball. Moncton scored twice in the 7th in the comeback win. Ethan Francis took the loss. Charlottetown stays 4.5 games up on Fredericton.
The Northside Brewers got by the Morell Chevies, 6-4 in the Kings County League.
The Boston Red Sox swept the Toronto Blue Jays as Alex Verdugo homered in the 9th off closer Jordan Romano to give the Sox a 5-4 victory. Jarren Duran had a big day with four doubles and a single and scored three times. Brandon Belt hit two homers for the Jays who fall 1.5 out in the wild card race.
Seattle got by AL leading Tampa Bay, 7-6. The Rays are 5-5 in their last ten.
Anthony Santander gave the Baltimore Orioles a 2-1 lead in the 8th getting hit by a pitch in their win over Minnesota.
St. Louis over the Yankees, 5-2. Brendan Donovan hit a two run homer off Gerritt Cole who falls to 8-2.
Atlanta has 56 wins in the National League, dropping Miami, 6-3. Travis d’Arnaud, Ozzie Albies, and Orlando Arcia all homered.
A strong outing for Alek Manoah for AA New Hampshire as he went 5 innings allowing 3 hits, a run and struck out 10. But the Fisher Cats lost 12-5 to the Portland Sea Dogs, Boston’s farm club. Manoah is trying to get back in form after a terrible start with the Jays.
Four Blue Jays have been named to the All-Star Game in Seattle. Vladdy Jr., Bo Bichette, Whit Merrifield and Kevin Gausman have been added as reserves.
The Toronto Maple Leafs have two new free agent signings. Max Domi and Tyler Bertuzzi joined the Leafs on Sunday.
Harness racing at Red Shores in Charlottetown saw First Glance with David Dowling win the 10th race in 1.54/2.
Rose Run Quest with Adam Merner behind won the 5th in 1.53/3.
