The price of fuel is going up today due to a pair of federal carbon reduction measures that come into effect – the Federal Fuel Charge, replaces the provincial carbon levy, and the Clean Fuel Standards. It’s that Federal Fuel Charge that has resulted in the increase in prices. You will now be paying 163.4 cents per litre for regular self-serve gasoline; 162.6 cents per litre for diesel; and a maximum price for furnace oil of 120.5 cents per litre.
For now, IRAC has not approved any increase as a result of the new taxes. The earliest impact it would have on prices would be July 7th, next Friday according to IRAC.
