Premier Dennis King is looking for some answers on when the Northumberland Ferry service will resume with the Confederation out of service for over a week. The Premier has written a letter to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau asking him to make “all possible efforts” to resume the service.
King says the ferry route is crucial to businesses in eastern PEI including tourism in the summer months.
A new part has to be made in Europe for the Confederation that had a technical problem that began on June 16th. The ferry won’t be available for a month in total.
A second ferry used on the route won’t be out of drydock until early July.
