The PEI Liberal Opposition has joined the province’s Child Youth Advocate in calling on the PC government to develop a detailed action plan to advance children’s rights and well-being.
The official opposition wants the province to implement several recommendations by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
The Action Plan is to be developed by November 20th this year which is National Child Day around the world.
Opposition Leader Hal Perry says a child-rights based system needs to be put in place but he says the government has not done enough so far. He says the time to act is well overdue.
