Summerside Police and the Provincial Fire Marshall’s office are investigating a case of Arson. Shortly after 12:30am this morning, a fire was reported at the Baker’s Lighthouse Motel on Water Street East. Information from witnesses indicate that someone threw an incendiary device at one of the units. Summerside Police Services, Summerside Fire Department and Island EMS all responded. The motel sustained significant damage, as did two vehicles, with one minor injury reported. Tenants of the motel are being helped out by the Red Cross and others with places to stay. Summerside Police ask that anyone with any information, regardless as to how insignificant it may seem, to contact Summerside Police or Crime Stoppers.
