The Executive Committee of UPEI’s Faculty Association has sent a letter to the UPEI Board of Governors and Senior Administration voicing concerns with UPEI’s response to the report of the independent third-party review of the University’s workplace policies and practices with respect to harassment and discrimination. In that letter, the Faculty Association raises concerns regarding the assertions that the serious problems documented in the report are “in the past”, and require only minor remediation. The Association points out that the report calls the problems on campus “dire”, and calls for sweeping changes that must happen over time, and require a serious commitment to accountability that the Association says is not evident in the statement released by the University. The Faculty Association Executive Committee also calls for the immediate resignation of all members of the Board of Governors who were on the Board at the time that complaints about the former President first surfaced in 2013, and when he was renewed in 2015.
