An update from the RCMP on the search for a missing man in the St Peters Island area, 23-year old Kieran Stewart. Stewart went missing over the weekend after an apparent solo kayaking trip to St. Peters Island. Police say he had planned to camp for the night, but did not return on Sunday as expected. Queens District RCMP, PEI Ground Search and Rescue, the Joint Rescue Coordination Center and the Coast Guard are all continuing search efforts, and police say that early Tuesday morning searchers located a paddle about 1 mile west of Point Prim. Earlier this week, his vehicle was located in Rice Point, and his kayak was recovered in the water about three nautical miles off Point Prim. Searchers have covered a significant area with assistance from over 50 volunteers with PEI Ground Search and Rescue; the RCMP with its dog, drones, boat and helicopter; North River Fire Department boat; three Coast Guard vessels; and various Canadian Forces and Transport Canada aircraft. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Kieran Stewart is asked to contact Queens District RCMP at 902-368-9300.
