Queens District RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance in a possible missing person case. On Friday (June 9th) at 9:48 p.m., RCMP began investigating a report of a man jumping off the Hillsborough Bridge. RCMP, Charlottetown Police, Charlottetown Fire Department, North River Fire Department, EMS and the Joint Rescue Coordination Center all responded to the incident. Four boats were immediately deployed to search the area but no one was located. The RCMP drone also searched the area. Police say the water was calm and visibility was clear, and further boat and PEI Ground Search and Rescue Unit searches conducted over the weekend were not successful. The RCMP Underwater Recovery Team is planning to conduct a search of the area. To date there has been no report of a missing person that could fit with the event. RCMP reviewed video from a local business that showed a lone male walking in the direction of the bridge that is possibly the person reported to police. Police have released a picture from that video and are asking the public for assistance in identifying the person in the picture. Anyone with information on the investigation is asked to contact Queens District RCMP at 902-368-9300. Police stress that this incident is not connected to another missing person case it’s also investigating in St Peter’s Island.
