A twenty-year old Summerside man is in hospital in Moncton in critical condition with serious injuries after an incident in Summerside early Sunday morning.
At approximately 1am, Summerside Police received a report of a vehicle-pedestrian incident in the parking lot of the Silver Fox Entertainment Complex on Water Street.
Police and Island EMS responded to the scene and located the victim, but the vehicle had already left the scene.
The victim was taken to Prince County Hospital and then later to Moncton for treatment. Police were able to locate the suspect vehicle on Water Street East near Read’s Corner. The driver was arrested at the scene of the traffic stop for dangerous driving causing bodily harm.
The investigation has been taken over by the Summerside Police Service Major Crime Unit with assistance from the Forensic Identification Section.
