A young person was taken into custody by RCMP on Friday afternoon after threats were issued during the afternoon at Mount Stewart Consolidated School.
The RCMP say threats were directed toward the school but no other details have been released on the nature of the threat.
The Mounties went to the school and investigated. They stayed until the school was safely secured and students could go home on buses at the usual time.
Charlottetown Police were called in L.M. Montgomery Elementary in East Royalty since there was indication the person who made the threat may have been in the school’s vicinity.
The Public Schools Branch issued a Tweet on the situation at about 3 in the afternoon and stated it was safe for students to go home.
