Thursday is budget day in PEI. Provincial Finance Minister Jill Burridge will present the province’s 2023-2024 Operating Budget this afternoon – the first budget for the province’s new Finance Minister. Burridge will present the budget at about 2:00pm in the legislature. Last year, the province saw a rise of about 239-million-dollars in revenue, partly because it was collecting more in taxes than originally estimated. But it saw a nearly two-million-dollar deficit because of spending related to inflation and to the damage caused by post-tropical storm Fiona.
