The Summerside municipal byelection to fill the vacant Ward 3 council seat began on Saturday with the first of three advance polls. 141 voters cast their ballot. That’s near 10% of 1,420 eligible voters in the ward. Advance polls will continue on Tuesday and Friday this week. Polls will be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. both days at the new Microtel Inn and Suites next door to Credit Union Place.
There are seven candidates running that include: Lisa Bradshaw, Nicolas Cameron, Arlene Desroches, Krista Hickey, Patrick McMahon, Pete Peters and Gordie Whitlock. The seat became vacant as the sitting councillor, Barb Ramsay won her bid to become an MLA.
