This is Family Violence Prevention Week and this year’s theme is Healing Communities.
Communities and organizations across the Island are holding events all week including community walks, family events, workshops and information sessions.
Wednesday is Wear Purple Day as Islanders across the province are asked to wear purple to help raise awareness and remember victims of violence and their families.
There are Walk in Silence events being held on Wednesday, including the Charlottetown “Walk in Silence” beginning and ending in Rochford Square at 12pm. In Lennox Island, Chief Mary Bernard Memorial Shelter is hosting a Walk in Silence at 12pm. The Montague “Walk in Silence” will take place at 11:30am, starting and ending at Families First (140 Sackville Street).
