Spring cleanup on properties around the Island continues. Yard waste like leaves and branches will be collected this week by Island Waste Management. It’s the second pick up this month. Bags and debris should be at the curb on Monday morning at 7.00 for collection.
Meantime, many Islanders are concerned about damage from leaning trees from Hurricane Fiona, last September.
Maritime Electric has taken down some trees that have been leaning on transmission wires across the province. Anyone with concerns about trees leaning on wires should contact Maritime Electric.
There is also concern about wildfires from downed and damaged trees on PEI’s north shore.
The province is aware of the need to clean more properties and assessments continue. 335 properties remain out of 61-hundred that required assistance.
The clean up itself could take years.
Many properties have large trunks and roots still exposed in back and front yards.
