The PEI government is looking to be the first in Canada to use electric buses to help run provincial warming centres during emergencies. It says it’s working with The Lion Electric Company to use
vehicle-to-grid technology available on LionC electric school buses to provide power to the North Rustico Lions Club in the event of an
outage.
The club was used as a warming centre in the aftermath of Hurricane Fiona.
P-E-I is expected to have 82 LionC electric school buses by the end of May, with 125 more added to the fleet over the next five
years.
