PEI’s cruise ship season is underway as Holland America’s Zaandam arrived at Port Charlottetown on Wednesday. This is shaping up to be the biggest cruise season in PEI’s history, with 91 ships scheduled to call at Port Charlottetown with the largest number of cruise visitors ever – 148,500. The estimated economic impact for PEI is expected to be greater than the record-breaking $42.2 million set in 2019.
This year, Port Charlottetown will welcome nine ships that will make their inaugural visit to the capital, and also one of the largest ever to call on Charlottetown — the MSC Meraviglia which has a passenger capacity of 4,500 and 1,500 crew.
This year’s cruise schedule also includes 15 double-ship days and 6 triple-ship days.
