Charlottetown Police have provided some more details regarding Sunday’s fatal two-vehicle collision on Riverside Drive. Police say it happened about 9:10pm when a vehicle traveling south on Riverside Drive (near the Pioneer Avenue exit) and a northbound vehicle collided head-on. The southbound vehicle caught fire and attempts by witnesses to free the driver from the vehicle failed. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The northbound vehicle, a mini van, was occupied by five children and two adults. All were taken to the QEH, and Police say some had serious but non life threatening injuries.
A Charlottetown Police Traffic/Collision Reconstructionist attended the scene. The cause of the collision remains under investigation. Any witnesses that have not spoken to Police yet are asked to contact Charlottetown Police at 902-629-4172.
