Premier Dennis King and Lieutenant Governor Antoinette Perry will swear in a new Cabinet on this morning at 11:00am. With his Progressive Conservatives winning 22 of the 27 seats, King has had a deeper and more diverse field of potential candidates to consider for cabinet in this second term for his government. There are 6 women in his new Progressive Conservative caucus, and King has indicated his new cabinet will have a record number of women — which would be at least three. King will also be taking other factors into consideration in assembling his cabinet, such as the experience and backgrounds of his new PC MLAs, and geographic representation. The Liberals have already announced that Tignish – Palmer Road MLA Hal Perry will be the Leader of the Official Opposition.
