UPEI advises that mediation has failed

UPEI issued a bulletin on Monday advising students and employees that mediator Michelle Flaherty has ended the mediation process as mediation talks with the UPEI Faculty Association have broken down. The University says it understands that the mediator will be recommending interest arbitration to the Provincial Minister of Economic Growth, Tourism and Culture. The University says it will request that Flaherty be appointed as the interest arbitrator as she is familiar with the items in dispute.
