PEI Liberal Leader Sharon Cameron has announced she is stepping aside as party leader following Monday night’s provincial election. She says her decision is to allow the rebuilding process of the party to continue.
The Liberals gained three seats but lost one and will serve as the official opposition. Robert Henderson, Hal Perry and Gord McNeilly all won re-election.
An interim leader of the Liberals will have to be appointed.
Cameron became leader and succeeded interim leader MLA Sonny Gallant who did not reoffer in the 2023 election.
