Federal Conservative Opposition Leader Pierre Poilievre says the federal carbon tax contained in the budget will have a harsh impact on Atlantic Canada.
He says Atlantic Canadians are already struggling with high fuel prices but the carbon tax increase. He says most households will pay more federal fuel charges and GST and jobs will be at risk.
Poillievre says PEI will be hit hardest with the average family losing $1,521 a year with the increased tax. The new carbon tax will start on July 1st in PEI, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland-Labrador.
