At the Atlantic Veterinary College on Tuesday, federal Health Minister Jean-Yves Duclos announced that the AVC will receive $1.5 million to enhance COVID-19 wastewater testing capacity for the Atlantic provinces. The money will come from the Public Health Agency of Canada. The project will allow COVID-19 wastewater testing to be done quickly in the region, without the need to ship samples to the National Microbiology Lab in Winnipeg. Wastewater testing has proven to be an important tool in monitoring for COVID-19 in communities.
