The opening ceremonies for the 2022 Canada Summer Games are set for tonight in St, Catharines, Ontario.
The flag bearers for Team PEI are wrestlers Vanessa Keefe and R.J. Hetherington who will lead our athletes during the opening.
PEI has 350 athletes, coaches and support staff at the games competing on 24 teams in 19 sports over the next two weeks.
Funding for 2023
Ottawa has announced $1.3 million for the 2023 Canada Winter Games next February which will be hosted in PEI.
The funding is for infrastructure, sports equipment, accommodations for the athletes, facility upgrades including the UPEI campus athletics campus.
