The Department of Transportation has the plows out this morning after Saturday’s snow storm. The plows are out on the main and secondary roads across Queens County. About 35 cm of snow was recorded at the Charlottetown Airport up to 9.00 last night.
The wind has picked up and there could be some drifting snow this morning.
Roads are also icy in many areas after freezing rain last night.
Kings and Queens County crews are also out. There was more snow expected in West Prince.
East Prince saw 30 plus cm and it’s snowing again this morning with wind gusts up to 75 K expected by 9.
Some roads are not open yet in Prince County.
Flurries and strong west winds were forecast for the afternoon with gusts up to 70 K.
The best advice is to stay off roads while the plows get at the snow.,
Maritime Electric reported 1723 customers without power this morning. The outages were in the Tignish, Summerside and Central Queens area and near Baldwins Road in Kings County. Crews had the number of outages down to 620 by noon.
