The new Sherwood Elementary School will be more environment-friendly when it’s constructed. Infrastructure Minister Steven Myers says the province wants to make the building greener.
The school will use electric heat and will not have an oil burning furnace. There is also an option to use solar panels on the roof after the school is constructed. The Energy Act will have to be amended to allow for that.
Myers says the new Sherwood school will become the new standard on how provincial buildings are constructed.
The total cost for the new school will be $23-million.
