A Healing Walk for Justice was held on Friday afternoon in downtown Charlottetown that drew hundreds of people. The Indigenous Lives Matter healing walk proceeded from the Coles Building to Connaught Square where a number of people spoke out against race-based police brutality in the wake of the deaths of two Indigenous people in New Brunswick over the last two weeks.
Those who marched were supporting the families of Chantel Moore and Rodney Levi.
Organizer Sarah Bernard says it was not a protest march but rather to bring to light the plight of many First Nations Canadians. She says racism happens not only in the U-S but also in Canada.
