Jenna Larter of Brookfield has the fastest time ever for an Islander in the 500 metre races in short track speed skating in 46.3 at the Canada Winter Games in Red Deer.
Andrew Binns set a new provincial record in short track speed skating in the 1500 metre with a time of 2.28.8 Peter McQuaid advanced to the semi-finals today.
Matt McKenna set a provincial junior records in the 500 and 1500 metre in long track. That’s for 16-17 year olds.

ARENDZ COLLECTS MORE MEDALS
Mark Arendz of Hartsville, PEI picked up his 10th career medal in the Paralympic World biathlon championship with a silver the 10 K cross country in Prince George, BC. He won a bronze in the standing middle distance race on Saturday.
Team PEI is 2-0 men’s hockey with a 3-2 edging of the Northwest Territories.

The UPEI women’s Panthers lost a 3-2 heartbreaker to visiting UNB in the AUS women’s hockey quarter-finals and lose to the Reds 2-0 in the best of 3.
Kelly Clements put UPEI up 2-1 but the Reds came back and got the winner at 19.33 in the third.
Emily Borbandy tied the game with under 2 minutes left and Tamina Kehler scored the winner in the final minute.
UPEI will host the Women’s Nationals in mid-March.
