Sarah Stewart-Clark will make it official on Monday that she will be running for the leadership of the Island Progressive Conservative party.
The announcement will come at 2.00 at Andrew Hall on the UPEI campus.
She was nominated as the PC candidate for the next provincial election for Charlottetown-Hillsborough Park back in July.
She works as an associate professor at Dalhousie University’s department of animal science and aquaculture.
Stewart-Clark is also an outspoken mental health advocate and founded the group Mothers Helping Mothers.
