The cab of a tractor-trailer caught on fire around 7.30 on Tuesday morning at the Esso service station in Borden-Carleton. The local fire department responded and found the big rig at the back of the parking lot. The cabin was destroyed but the driver escaped without injury.Borden-Carleton fire chief Shawn Jessome says firefighters were on the scene quickly as the fire hall is just across the street. He said it could have been much worse. There was no damage to the garage or the gas pumps nearby. The fire was confined to the cab of the vehicle and it did not spread to the trailer. It could have been much worse and caused a major explosion if it spread to the gas pumps.The RCMP is investigating. The cause of the fire will have to be determined.
There was also a fire reported at the Rocky Point block house light house on Tuesday afternoon. The North River Fire Department responded. More details later.
